Today, I'm excited to announce that Sequin Members can now personalize their Sequin Rewards Visa® Debit Card with their favorite 21-character affirmation, motto, or phrase that sparks joy.
Out of the thousands of interviews I've done with Sequin Members, perhaps my favorite comment was from a young woman who remarked, "The cards in my wallet are ugly."
Despite designing many Visa cards, I'd never questioned the status quo – why was every card we launched black, blue, or grey? My research showed that card issuers choose these colors to inspire "trust." But coincidentally, these are the exact colors that represent who the financial system is designed for (women could be rejected from bank accounts and credit cards until 1974 – not ancient history). Simply, the financial system was designed to leave women out of the narrative.
At Sequin, we’re making history by designing banking products around women's needs and financial goals. Our first Sequin Member "co-creation" session was a fun one: to select the Sequin Rewards Visa® Debit Card color together, as a community. We picked coral because it was a shade that looked good with every skin tone and represented our principles of inclusivity - all genders are welcome at Sequin.

Your deposits qualify for up to a maximum of $3,000,000 in FDIC insurance coverage when placed at program banks in the Thread Bank deposit sweep program. Your deposits at each program bank become eligible for FDIC insurance up to $250,000, inclusive of any other deposits you may already hold at the bank in the same ownership capacity. Earn cashback rewards at a rate of 6% on eligible categories in a calendar month in which you spend at least $500 on the Sequin Visa® Rewards Debit Card. If you make less than $500 in settled debit transactions on the Sequin Visa® Rewards Debit Card in a calendar month, you earn cashback rewards on debit transactions at a rate of 0.5% cashback on eligible categories.
